Help Your Baby Sleep
Posted by admin on May 11th, 2009 filed in HomePutting your baby to sleep may be a tasking job for you especially if you are a first-time parent. Babies have varied sleeping habits, especially newborns and you have to be very patient because it takes a while before they settle into a normal sleeping pattern.
Here are some baby sleep help tips to help you in putting your child to sleep:
· Massage him with mild baby oil with lavender. Do it very gently with very soft strokes that are more like rubbing than massaging. Lavender has very soothing qualities that can help your baby to sleep. It calms your baby whenever he gets fussy or irritable which makes it easier for him to sleep and stay asleep.
· Bathe your baby with warm water and cleansing gel in order to make him feel fresh upon bedtime.
· Play some smooth music in the background to provide a more soothing sleeping environment for your little one.
· Make sure that you keep baby’s crib clean and without any obstruction or clutter such as toys, finished milk bottles, pacifiers etc. He may roll over them and get woken by the discomfort.
· Turn the lights off except for a night light. Dark rooms are more conducive to sleeping for both babies and adults.
· If you are doing the family bed, make sure that there is enough space for your baby and yourself as well as your spouse.
· Rock your baby’s crib very slowly if she tends to get calmed by it. However, some babies do not want to be rocked or moved at all while sleeping or while trying to fall asleep.
· Make sure that your baby is full before falling asleep so he does not wake up in the middle of the night to feed. Some babies can easily go back to sleep after waking up to feed but some do not so you have to adjust accordingly.
